Girl with a Pearl Earring
Original Painting On Watercolor Paper
Size: 56 x 38cm (approximately 22.05 x 14.96 inches)
Unframed: Shipped flat to prevent bending
Materials: Watercolor
Description: This piece is my reinterpretation of the "Girl with a Pearl Earring." Inspired by the process of one of my favorite artist Aine Divine, I challenged myself to paint directly on watercolor paper without any sketch. Normally, I sketch first, but this method pushed me to focus on proportions and shapes more intensely.
Painting without a sketch was uncomfortable and my version of the girl turned out a bit scary at first (without eyes at one point), but I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I think this experiment helped me push myself as an artist and embrace new techniques, despite the discomfort and I’m very happy I challenged myself.
Year: 2024
Signature: Signed on the lower right with my Japanese "rakkainn" seal.
Edition: Original Artwork
