Sir Ian Mckellen
Original Painting On Watercolor Paper
Size: 71 x 51cm (approximately 27.95 x 20.08 inches)
Unframed (Shipped flat to prevent bending)
Materials: Watercolor paint
Description: This painting of Sir Ian McKellen follows a dual-sided approach. On one side of the paper, I painted without any initial sketch, adopting Aine Divine's method. On the other side, I used my usual technique of sketching first and then painting over it. The reference photo was sourced from a screenshot of a YouTube video of the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year competition, where my favorite artists, Aine Divine and Christian Hook, were competing and painting Sir Ian. Despite the low quality of the reference image, I embraced the process, preparing myself for Aine Divine's upcoming workshop in Edinburgh, which I'll attend in two weeks.
Year: 2024
Signature: Signed on the lower right with my Japanese "rakkainn" seal.
Edition: Original Artwork
